A-Level

a grade of education with its full title as Advanced level. It is generally taken after completing a previous level of course such as a GCSE in a subject and is usually a two-year course.

Most students take their A-levels as a prequel to application to applying to university and it is normal for a university to require a certain level of grade and subject of A-level to be accepted on to the further education course.

Pre MBA

extra preparation for students who are interested in taking their MBA but may not be ready to qualify for the full program or want to increase their chances of success. Most pre-MBA programs for international students include some English language courses, GMAT preparation, and the introductory business courses. All of this will prepare you as a student to get entrance and be successful in the actual MBA program.

Undergraduate Degree

May be awarded with or without honours, with the class of an honours degree based on the average mark of the assessed work a candidate has completed. Below is a list of the possible classifications with common abbreviations.

  • First Class Honours (First or 1st)
  • Second Class Honours, Upper Division (2:1)
  • Second Class Honours, Lower Division (2:2
  • Third Class Honours (Third or 3rd)
  • Ordinary degree (Pass)

GCSE

GCSE stands for General Certificate of Secondary Education. GCSEs can be taken in over 45 subjects from English and mathematics to more work-related subjects such as health and social care and manufacturing, generally taken in by students between 14–16. The International version of the GCSE is the IGCSE, which can be taken anywhere in the world. Education to GCSE level is often required of students who study for the International Baccalaureate or to GCE Advanced Level (A-level).

MBA

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a master's degree in business administration, which attracts people from a wide range of academic disciplines. Students of MBA programs study the theory and application of business and management principles. This type of study equips students with knowledge that can be applied to a variety of real world business situations.

Pre PhD

A 6 or 9 month course (depending on level of English) preparing the students language level and academic skills to undertake a PHD course at a British University.

Pre Master

This course is for International Students who wish to study for a Master's degree at a British University but whose academic qualifications and language level may not quite satisfy the requirements for direct entry onto a postgraduate programme.  It is suitable for students who have a three year degree or diploma from their own country and require further study in their subject area. The Pre-Masters is a tailor made two-term or three-term programme of academic subjects, study skills and English language training.

Masters (Postgrad) Degree

Most Masters courses in the UK last a full calendar year, starting in September or October. Many are also available as part time courses and can take between 2 and 6 years to complete.
